March 1st 10am-2pm | Intro to Power Tools
This one day workshop hosted by the Rebuilding Center, covers the basics of power tool safety, anatomy and use. This workshop is excellent for those who have never used a power tool or those who have and are looking to gain more confidence. Tools covered: cordless drill, circular saw, jig saw, saw zall plus a selection of shop tools.
Prerequisite: no prerequisite
Cost: $35

April 4th-5th 10am-4pm | Introduction to Carpentry for Women
This two day hands-on carpentry workshop (plus one evening lecture) covers power tools, safety, construction lingo and basic principles of carpentry. Each attendant will build their own tool box from recycled materials to take home!
Prerequisite: no prerequisite
Cost: $85

April 12th and 13th | Intermediate Carpentry for Women
This two day one evening intensive workshop is designed for women who are beginners in the world of carpentry. We will be constructing a tool shed out of mostly reclaimed materials. We will cover tool and work site safety, wall, window, door and roof framing. Prerequisites: intro to carpentry class, some experience, or instructor permission.
Cost: $125; some work trade available.
Meal: A vegetarian lunch is included.

May 23 thru June 1st | Portland's Village Building Convergence
Ten day natural building extravaganza!!! Join local natural builders and superstars from afar to build community projects across the lovely city of Portland. All day time natural building workshops are free for locals!

Second weekend in June | Straw clay workparty at Foster Community
Come play in the mud and straw. We will be building an addition to the little house (featured on portland's Green Building Tour and HGTV's Off Beat America) and infilling the timber framed structure with straw clay insulation. It is simple, quick, a good insulator and lots of fun!

June 19th thru June 29th | Ashevillage Building Convergence
Join folks in Asheville, North Carolina as we commences the village building convergence on the East Coast. Starhawk, Julia Butterfly Hill, Mark Lakeman and Lydia Doleman will be some of the instructors and presenters at this amazing first annual event.

July 12-13 | Cob Oven Workshop with Green Empowerment sponsored by New Belgium Brewing
The goal of this workshop is to eat pizza and drink beer by way of constructing an easy to replicate earthen pizza oven. The workshop is geared for people who are interested in overseas work. Earthen ovens are age old methods of efficient cooking by storing heat in earthen mass.

August 1st - 9th, Load Bearing Straw Bale
Ever wanted to build your own ecologically sustainable home? Interested in Straw Bale construction? Join us for this 8 day intensive workshop from the foundation to roof for a 200sqft load bearing straw bale studio. Learn foundation fundamentals, building with bales, roof framing, how to place windows and doors, earthen plasters and floors. This workshop is good for the novice and contractor alike. Workshop includes, informational packets and delicious vegetarian lunches. Workshop in Portland Or. Prerequisites: no prerequisites
Cost: $500 ($450 if regestering before May 1st)
Meal: Vegetarian lunch included.

All materials are provided however it is recommened that you bring your own safety glasses and work gloves.
